Inspired By A Hollywood Icon…
October 18, 2006
Hi

Here is how a chance encounter with a Hollywood Icon of yesteryear inspired a book idea and a radio drama.

Imagine the scene; you are sitting in the reception area of a set of rundown rehearsal rooms and torrential rain is falling in stair rods on the corrugated ramshackle roof above, sounding like bullets rasping from a machine gun. The door opens and in walks Betty Grable. She smiles warmly, addresses you by your first name, shakes hands, and kisses you lightly on the cheek. Seconds later Rory Calhoun strolls in attired in pristine cowboy gear…

What’s it all about, a daydream, a movie outline, or what?

No, it’s for real and it happened to me, and now 37 years later I have finally got around to writing a book about that and dozens of other chance encounters I was privileged to share with showbiz luminaries of the ‘50s and ‘60s.

First though to test the nostalgia market I penned a 30-minute radio drama which was broadcast on a national network.

The Ultimate Creative Writing Course contains the production script for this radio play The Sound Tests: Hollywood 1928 and the book is scheduled for publication in the first quarter of 2007.

To your success...
